The Deluge (II)

Hello once again! So, we were talking about the ‘Whatsapp forwards’ (I am not sure about you all, but at least I was). The variety available here is simply mind-boggling, to say the least! And the speed with which they proliferate! If you read one message or a video in one group, within a few minutes the same thing pops out of multiple other groups!

So one day, you’ll get to read the story of a woman, who earnestly observed the Vrat (a religious vow or observance) of ‘Lord Forward’ ….. and achieved amazing results! Her Vrat? She consumed only one meal a day. Then she religiously worshiped her Whatsapp and all its groups. Without missing a single word, she studiously read all the pages-long forwards, especially the ones about women empowerment, gender equality, how women are great and how they should be worshiped by their menfolks and the most important — without fail, daily she sent at least one forward about ‘equality of gender’  to her husband!

It wasn’t easy, you see. She had to face so many difficulties, like — no enough time to read all those loooong forwards, sometimes no network, low battery charge —Uff, not easy! But she fought against all odds, nothing could deter her and thus completed this 7 days long Vrat. And lo and behold!

At the end of seventh day, as soon as the husband received the seventh forward from his wife, he was a totally changed man! The person who earlier was a born MCP, who treated his wife like scum, insulted her in the presence of others, treated her no better than a slave — had a complete 180 degrees of change of heart! He began treating his wife like the Queen of his life! See? This is the Power of Forwards!

Apart from these preachy preachy ones, there are other categories as well. One of which is ‘Literary Forwards’. In the Queen’s language, so far not seen anyone pulling Shakespeare’s beard or borrowing  Wordsworth’s cap (along with his name). But in the regional languages, there are poems galore and prose excerpts making rounds with big big names as by-lines. In the heaven, these poets and writers (May those great souls rest in peace) would stare at their phone screens and wonder, “Ohh….. did I really write that? May be ….um…er…I must have, if the ‘God of Whatsapp Forwards’ says so.”

Similarly multitudes of health related forwards are making rounds, supposedly written by well-known doctors and/or experts in the field. Hopefully, the forward-worshipers are not blindly following these health advises. Or else, some rolly-polly  would diligently force herself to gulp down the ‘Forwarded’ formula in the hope of turning into a ‘string bean’, and at the end of one month, would find ‘just a few pounds’ added to her ‘original figure’.

The jokes, especially the wifey ones, are so so so many in numbers and variety, that not just a separate chapter, but an entire epic would be required to deal with this topic. (And epics are not our cup of tea; after all we are mere mortals!)

Oh, I can see you all getting restless. Come on, what are you guys doing, wasting your time reading this? Please go, check your phones (that is the reason behind restlessness, right?)
